Why polyethylene?
Polyethylene (PE) buoys cost less to manufacture and maintain than fibreglass and steel buoys. PE offers excellent impact resistance and has a low energy surface that has greater resistance to marine growth than other buoy material.
Norfloat’s NN1250 and NN1500 Navigation Buoys have been designed to operate in open water as well as rivers and harbours. The keel and hull design naturally assist the performance of the buoy’s stability, maximising light efficiency.
Norfloat’s navigation Buoys are manufactured from a virgin grade UV stable Medium Density Polyethylene, all colours are IALA compliant and offer a 10-year colourfastness.
Norfloat Buoys are foam filled using a Lloyds registered polyurethane system that offers significant extra strength and in the event of collision damage the buoy will remain afloat .
The NN1250 and NN1500 Navigation buoys have a rotationally moulded tower, that in the event of damage; can be replaced on station. The tower can house an internally mounted radar reflector, and accept most makes of navigation light. The tower is semi-sealed and self draining - this design feature has excellent self-righting characteristics and gives an exceptional low centre of gravity.
Stability of the NN1250 and NN1500 in severe conditions is exceptional due to the low drag twin keel and tower design.
For safety and handling two opposing lift easy catch eyes are supplied as standard.
The NN1250 and NN1500 Multi-Purpose buoys are available as Lateral, Special and Cardinal Buoys. |
